A modern energy security system will be implemented in Armenia, reports Novosti-Armenia, citing the Armenian National Security Council's press office.
The first session of the working group, which is drafting the concept for energy security provided for by the national security strategy, took place in Yerevan today, headed by the Security Council's secretary, Artur Bagdasaryan.
"We have to implement a modern energy security system using the experience of other countries," - he said. Bagdrasyan noted that Armenia's energy security is a vital part of the country's entire national security, and so one of the main aims of a new concept is self-reliance in the energy sphere. "Today Armenia's energy sector is well-developed, not only to fully provide itself with energy, but also to export energy, which is of vital importance for the country's economy," - Bagdrasyan said.
The concept is due to be drawn up by October..
