Chechnya hosts discussion of agricultural issues

Today the Agriculture Minister Elena Skrynnik held a meeting in Grozny on the situation in agriculture and socio-economic development in villages in the North Caucasus Federal District.

"Today we discussed three important issues: the situation with the implementation of investment projects in the agribusiness in the region, organization of the spring field work and the situation in the field of veterinary medicine and the prevention of particularly dangerous animal diseases,"  ITAR-TASS cites the minister as saying.

Skrynnik stressed that agriculture in the North Caucasus plays an important role in ensuring food security. In particular, said the minister,  45% of Russia's total volume of grapes, more than 10% of grains, fruit, berries and vegetables and more than 5% of sugar beet are grown in the region.
