Azerbaijani steamship line to purchase ferries in Croatia

The Azerbaijani State Steamship Line and the Croatian firm Uljanik have signed a protocol on construction of new ferries for Azerbaijan, Trend cites a spokesperson of the Azerbaijani company, Vugar Sadykhov, as saying.

The protocol was signed by the head of the steamship line, Aydyn Bashirov. The opening of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway corridor is expected to increase freight on the TRACECA Eurasian corridor. Purchasing new vessels will fulfil the demand for freight.

Ferries for Azerbaijan will be constructed according to the “2+3” scheme. Every ferry is worth 22 million euro, financed from the state budget.

The vessels will have advanced construction.
