Nine deals signed on Russian-Armenian interregional forum

Yerevan is hosting the first Russian-Armenian interregional forum, participated in by the head of the Russian presidential administration, Sergey Naryshkin, and his Armenian counterpart, Karen Karapetyan, News Armenia reports.


9 deals were signed at the forum. They include a memorandum on mutual understanding between the Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and the Russian Ministry of Regional Development. Other deals concern cooperation in trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation between the government of Armenia and Chelyabinsk Region, Krasnodar Territory and the Vayots-Dzorsky Region of Armenia.


A program of joint action was signed between the Russian Federal Tourism Agency and the Armenian Ministry of Economy for 2012-2013.


Vice-President of the Russian Railways, Valery Reshetnikov, and Armenian Deputy Minister of Transport and Communication, Artashes Avetisyan, signed a memorandum on construction of the Vanadzor-Fioletovo railway.


Director General of MAKSM, Valery Menshikov, and the president of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences, Radik Martirosyan, signed a memorandum on mutual understanding.


The Shirak Region of Armenia and the Ulyanovsk Region of Russian signed an action protocol for 2011-2012.


The Armenian State Economic University and the Saint-Petersburg State University of Economy and Finances signed a deal.


The interregional forum is being held at the sport and concert complex of Karen Demirchyan in Yerevan on April 18-20.


One of the main events of the forum is the handing over of the first Sukhoi Superjet 100 to Armavia at Zvartnots airport in Yerevan. Another event is the opening of a Center for Diagnostics of Infrastructure on the South Caucasus Railway in Yerevan and a memorial complex in Armenia to Russian soldiers who died in the Battle of Oshakan on August 17, 1827, near Echmiadzin (Russian-Persian war 1826-1828).
