The Iranian minister of industry and mining has taken part in founding a metallurgy complex in the Sarishabad District of Kurdistan Province, Iran News reports.
It will be the largest metallurgy facility in western Iran, covering almost 60 hectares. Approximately $60 million were invested in its construction.
The first stage of the complex will produce 600,000 tons of steel rods for the domestic market and Iraq.
The second stage will specialize in producing spongy iron and smelting works.
The minister underlined that the complex will play a significant economic role in the region and will provide employment.
