Iran is ready to become a transit state for oil and gas from Central Asia to the Gulf, Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Akbar Salehi said, Trend reports.
Salehi said that 1600 km of railway are being constructed from the border with Iran to Port Chabakhar in Central Asia.
Iran may transport up to 10 million tons of oil products annually.
Ashkhabad is hosting a meeting of the foreign ministers of Iran, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Qatar and Oman. They are discussing cooperation in international freighting and cargo transit.
