Iran gains $3 billion from transit

The Iranian deputy minister for roads and transport, the head of the Organization of Roads and Automobile Transport, Shahriyar Efendi-zade, stated that last year the transit revenues of Iran were estimated at more than $3 billion,  Iran.ru reports.

9.5 million tons of transit freight were carried through the territory of Iran in 2010, surpassing the 2009 amount by 34%.

In 2011 Iran is set to increase this volume to 12 million tones.
