New passenger terminal to be opened in Armenian airport "Zvartnots" in 2010

Notwithstanding that this year has started with difficulties for the 'Armavia' company, the Armenian national air carrier is set to expand the range of its flights and passenger turnover, the head of the company, Mikhail Bagdasarov, told journalists today. "The opening of new flight paths will increase the number of our assengers, as well as the opening of a second terminal at the airport", he said, reports Panarmenian.
The head of "Armavia" airlines expressed hope that fuel prices will soon drop, which will improve the  ituation in general. By the end of the year, construction of the second terminal at "Zvartnots" airport will be completed. In addition, a three-storey, 800-capacity underground parking facility will be built near the  airport. The cost of the terminal's constriction is estimated at about $173 million. It is expected that the airport will be able to receive more than 3.2 million passengers a year, compared to the current 2 million.
