EU says no need for new meeting on Iran

The letter from Tehran proposing new talks with the six mediators on the nuclear program (Russia, China, USA, France, UK, Germany) has no basis, a spokeswoman for EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said, RIA Novosti reports.

Ashton proposed a new meeting in February. Head of the Iranian National Security Council Saeed Jalili agreed to hold fair and open talks.

The previous round of talks was held in Istanbul on January 21-22. Ashton said that no results were achieved.
