Iran to connect southern port with railways

Director of the Iranian Southern Railway, Ali Reza Ekhteshami, said that southern ports will be connected with railways to increase their traffic, Iran.ru reports.


The official said that a railway is to connect Abadan and Shadegan and the ports of Khorramshahr and Imam Khomeini. The port of Imam Khomeini will be connected with the port of Bushehr.


Iran will construct the Shiraz-Firuzabad-Port Bushehr railway, which will be extended to Assalouyeh.


Studies have been made on construction of a railway along the Gulf coast to connect ports Bandar-Abbas, Assalouyeh, Genave, Imam Khomeini, Khorramshahr and the border terminal Shalamche.


The Chabakhar Port may also be connected.


Ekhteshami reminded that all ports have naval and road connection.


The official said that the Akhvaz-Ize-Isfahan railway is essential for the future.
