Russia and Azerbaijan intend to increase their trade turnover to $2.5 billion in 2011, which is almost 0.6 billion more than last year, 1news.az reports, with reference to "Rossiyskaya Gazeta".
The head of the Russian trade mission in Azerbaijan, Yuri Shchedrin, said such optimistic forecasts are possible due to results reached by the sides in the first quarter of 2011.
"According to statistics, trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia more than doubled and reached 671.7 million dollars," the trade representative said.
Natural gas remains one of the most important goods in trade with Azerbaijan.
