Georgian car stations will be based on the Turkish model, deputy head of the land transport agency Kakha Nikuradze said, Business Georgia reports.
He said that infrastructure of freighting has started modernizing, car stations that do not meet the standards will be fined or even closed.
Foreign tourists have criticized Georgian public transport, and such complaints can be found on Russian and Ukrainian forums. They complained about poor equipment of car stations, buses and minibus taxis.
Turkey has the best model, introduced by Germany. Turkish specialists will be invited to Georgia in the near future.
Nikuradze said that there will be strict control over construction of new car stations and their functioning. A department for security and monitoring has already been established. The stations will be split into international, inter-city and district. Each will have specific norms.
The Georgian official said that Turkish investors will arrive as well. Georgian supervisors of car stations expect an increase of the number of clients and income.
