Construction of the biggest in the North Caucasus bridge across the Kuban River in Karachai-Cherkessia reached the active stage, 9 out of 11 back holds were erected, Yuga.ru reports.
The bridge is of strategic significance for the republic, as with its operation the burden of one of the heaviest traffic parts of the federal highway Cherkessk-Dombai with 20 000 cars traffic a day will be lessen.
Construction began in summer 2010. The bridge is unique with its technical characteristics. It was developed by the North Caucasus branch of the Russian Institute Giprodor. The facility is included to the federal programme “Development of transport net in Russia.”
