Russia and Iran to establish working group on radio frequencies

Russia and Iran have agreed to establish a working group on radio
frequencies, initiated by the Russian Minister for Communication, Igor
Shegolev, and the head of the Iranian Service for Control and
Monitoring of Communications, Mohammad Karampur, ITAR-TASS reports.

The Russian side of the group will be headed by an official of the
Russian Agency for Communication Monitoring, the Iranian – by an
official of the Iranian Service for Control and Monitoring of
Communications.

Shegolev proposed Iran to regulate radio frequencies as part of the
regional communication cooperation program. Iran has common borders in
the regional organization with Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

Sochi is to become a center for information technologies for the
Olympic Games in 2014. The city is close to Iranian services, which
makes radio frequency a topical issue.
