The Rustavsky metallurgical plant has resumed production of pipes
today. Economy Minister Vera Kobalia and Governor Kvemo Kartli David
Kirkitadze were at the opening.
It is the only place in the Trans-Caucasus for production of pipes for
various functions. The products will be exported to Europe.
Kirkitadze underlined that the local population will work at the
plant. 500 jobs will be created at first, rising to 1,200.
The director of the factory, Giva Gigineishvili, said that 350,000
tons of products will be produced annually. $152 million will be
invested.
