Legal inconsistencies impede signing of agreement on transit of Azerbaijani gas to Turkey

The main reason for the delay in signing the agreement on transit of
Azerbaijani gas to Turkey is a discrepancy between the principles of
law. The lawyers of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) are
currently working on bringing this matter to a common denominator,
said the head of the SOCAR, Rovnag Abdullaev, on Friday.

Abdullaev said that at the moment routes for the transportation of
Azerbaijani gas to Europe are debated, 1news.az reports. By the
beginning of October Nabucco, TAP and ITGI must submit their proposals
for the transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe.

The projects of the Southern Corridor include Nabucco, Trans pipeline
(TAP), "White Stream" and ITGI (pipeline Turkey-Greece-Italy). The
South Corridor is a priority for the European Union and aims at
diversifying routes and sources of energy supply.
