Turkmenistan develops Caspian Sea oil fields

The state company Turkmenebit is developing the North Goturdepe oil
field in the Caspian Sea, Trend reports.

Specialists have completed the drilling of borehole N147 at a depth of
4,400 meters. The borehole is expected to have a productivity of 800
tons of oil daily, exceeding the rate at borehole N29 2.7-fold in
2010.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov set new goals at a council
on oil issues in October 2009. One of the goals was for Turkmenistan
to start its own development of oil and gas fields in the Caspian Sea.

More oil deposits were revealed during maintenance works at borehole
N29 in February 2010. The new oil source had a productivity of 300
tons of oil daily.

Turkmennebit is developing 25 oil fields. The company has advanced
equipment from the USA, Germany, China and Russia. The new
installations ZJ-70DS from China and Uralmash from Russia allow
drilling up to 7,000 meters deep.
