Three hundred Turkish students will be chosen to receive nuclear engineering education scholarships in Russia with the goal of employing them at the planned nuclear power plant in Akkuyu, Mersin, when it begins operation. The students will take courses at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (MEPhI), Hurriyet Daily News reports.
The scholarships were arranged by Akkuyu NGS Elektrik Üretim, the company that was established as part of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant project. This September, 50 students will attend MEPhI, while the rest will be trained later. Students that receive the scholarships must serve at least 13 years at the Akkuyu plant.
