Dagestan Days in Austria

Austria is holding the Days of Dagestan that started on June 20.
Dagestan presented its investment opportunities for the first time.

Chairman of the Dagestani People’s Assembly Magomed-Sultan Magomedov,
Deputy Chairman of Government Rizvan Kurbanov, Deputy Chairman of the
Dagestani Presidential Administration and Government Musalan
Takhmanov, heads of ministries and structures and businessmen Omar
Murtuzaliyev and Alibek Isayev arrived in Austria.


The holding of Dagestani Days in Austria was decided in January 2011
during the visit of Dagestani President Magomedsalam Magomedov. He
visited the Wintertechnic Engineering Gesmbkh. Dagestani Economy
Minister Marat Ilyasov met the Director General of the company, Thomas
Jurs, and signed a cooperation deal. The company will invest 30% of
the sum for some projects in Dagestan.


President Magomedov met the President of the Austrian Federal Economic
Chamber Christov Lyantlem. Chairman of the Dagestani People’s Assembly
Magomed-Sultan Magomedov, Deputy Chairman of Government Rizvan
Kurbanov, Deputy Chairman of the Dagestani Presidential Administration
and Government Musalan Takhmanov were at the meeting. Vice-President
of the chamber Richard Shents represented the Austrian side.


The economic chamber is the second largest trade-economic chamber
after the US. It has 116 enterprises all over the world.


In his speech, the Dagestani president reminded his audience that
Dagestan has Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran as its
neighboring states. Over a third of the republic is 2,000-4,500 meters
above sea level, with Bazarduzu as its peak at 4,460 meters.


He underlined that the country has great tourism potential due to its
unique landscape. Cooperation with Austria will promote such brands as
the Matlas, Chindirchero, Makhachkalinskaya, Manasskaya, Kyakentskaya,
Derbentskaya and Samurskaya Resort Zones. Wintertechnic Engineering
and VADO Engineering are supporting the projects.


Dagestan has positive demographic development. Its population has
increased 1.6-fold in the last two decades, reaching 3 million. Over
55% of the population are under 30. The average age is 26-27.


The country has potential for developing industry, agriculture and
construction. The republic is located on the North-South and East-West
transport corridors, allowing transit of products between Asia and
Europe. It has the only ice-free port in the Russian section of the
Caspian Sea.


The Strategy for the Socio-Economic Development of Dagestan until 2025
pays special attention to industrial and innovative complexes.


30% of the projects in Dagestan have become a priority, giving them
preferences and benefits, including tax relief. They will create over
23,000 jobs and an income of over a million euros for the budget.


The head of the Agency for Investments and Foreign Economic Links of
Dagestan, Ali Nurmagomedov, talked about priority economic projects
and topical investment issues. The head of the Dagestani Tourism
Agency proposed cooperation agreements.


Dagestan presented projects in agriculture, construction and industry.
They were presented by Director of the “Dagagrocomplex” Isak Umalatov,
Director General of “Dagagrocomplex” Shirvani Lachuyev, Director
General of “Marabi” Zeynudin Sadykov, Director of the
“Toturbiykalinskaya Ptitsefabrica” Soltanali Mustafayev, Director
General of “Jaga” Yukrudin Salimkhanov and Financial Director of
“Pioner” Batyr Emmeyev.


Austrian companies plan to co-invest 25 million euros in Dagestan.
