Chechen Emergencies Ministry operates in high alert regime

The head of the Chechen office of the Russian Emergencies Ministry,
Ruslan Ykhyav, said that the structure is operating in a high alert
regime due to flood risks, RIA Novosti reports.


There heavy rains fell on June 22 and forecasts expect rivers to
continue rising on June 23. The Sunzha River in Grozny may submerge
100 houses with over 240 people. 70 houses may be submerged in other
areas of Chechnya. River banks are being reinforced and the situation
is being monitored. Inhabitants were requested to report all flood
risks.
