Russia and China have blocked a US attempt to publish a report by
experts on Iran for unverified information, Reuters reports.
The report presented to the UN Security Council says that most
violations of the UN embargo concern arms shipments to Syria, from
where they are sent to Libyan and Palestinian militants.
The authors of the report also accuse Iran of refusing to stop uranium
enrichment.
The Russian deputy representative to the UN, Alexander Pankin, says
that unverified and politized information should not be followed by
actions from the UN Security Council.
The USA and a set of other states suspect Iran of developing nuclear
arms against the background of peaceful nuclear activity. Tehran
denies all accusations and insists that the program is aimed at
fulfilling demands for electricity.
The UN Security Council passed another resolution on Iran in June
2010, introducing new sanctions.
