Poor apricot harvest in Armenia

Armenia will collect only about 30% of the average annual harvest of
apricots in 2011. Chairman of the Agrarian Union of Armenia, Grach
Berberyan, told journalists today, News.am reports.

Despite the low harvest, apricot exports continue. The country is only
exporting surpluses of products. Prices rose to 1 euro per kg.

Berberyan said that better care of plants would improve the harvest.
State funds for the purpose are not enough. The Agriculture Ministry
promised to provide fertilizers. Berberyan said that they expect a
good peach harvest.
