New reserves of oil and gas have been found in the south of Iran. The
Assalia area has about 260 billion cubic meters of gas. The Iranian
National Oil Company says that Assalia has 1 billion barrels of oil
reserves. This means that Iran has a total of 700 billion barrels of
oil, ANS reports.
