Draft agreement between Turkey and Georgia on power trade prepared

A meeting between Georgia and Turkey was held in Batumi to discuss a
draft international agreement on cross-border trade in electricity
between Georgia and Turkey, Business Georgia reports.

The need for this agreement came after Georgia began to build the new
"Borchha-Akhaltsikhe" 400-kilovolt power transmission line in the
direction of Turkey, which will significantly increase the export and
import of electricity.

The Turkish side was headed by the Head of the Department for Energy
and Natural Resources of Turkey, Murat Karapinari. The Georgian side
was represented by employees of the Ministry of Energy and the "State
Electrical Systems of Georgia" company, as well as international
organizations working on the project.
