Gas pipeline blown up in Egypt

The gas pipeline through the Sinai Peninsula transporting gas from
Israel to Jordan has been blown up this morning, ANS reports.

The incident happened at El-Arish, 50 km from the Egyptian-Israeli
border. An anonymous source said that the blast was organized by
masked assailants.

Al-Jazeera said that a security guard and a member of his family were injured.
It is the fourth explosion since the fall of President Hosni Mubarak
from power in February 2011 and the second incident since early July.

Local Bedouins were suspected of involvement in the blasts. Israel
permitted Egypt to send additional forces to the Sinai Peninsula to
protect the pipeline.
