Azerbaijan to launch set of low-orbiting satellites

Azerbaijan continues research on creating and launching low-orbiting satellites, according to the minister of information and communication technologies of the country, Ali Abbasov.

The ministry of information and communication technologies of Azerbaijan and the company Arianespace signed a contract on launching the first Azeri national telecommunications satellite 'Azerspace' in November 2010. The contract costs $93million. The launch of the satellite is planned for the end of 2012.
