Russian-Azerbaijani economic relations are progressing and trade
turnover is growing, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov
said after negotiations with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov,
Russia-24 reports.
Mammadyarov said that they had discussed the Baku-Novorossiysk
pipeline. The contract on purchase and sales of Azerbaijani gas to
Russia was signed by SOCAR and Gazprom in Baku on October 14, 2009. A
supplement to the contract was signed in Baku in early September 2010.
Gazprom will receive 2 billion cubic meters of gas in 2011 and over 2
billion in 2012.
Azerbaijan started pumping gas to Russia on January 1, 2010.
The Baku-Novorossiyk pipeline is used for oil transport. AMOk was
operating the pipeline until late 2007. It is operated by SOCAR.
SOCAR exported 2.24 million tons of oil in the northern direction in
2010 and about 2.5 million tons in 2009.
SOCAR exported 1.2 million tons of oil using the Baku-Novorossiysk
pipeline in 2008, 1.2 million in 2007 and 2006, 1.6 million tons in
2006.
