Georgia has introduced lease contracts for renting the forests. Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alexander Khetaguri, said that long-term lease contracts will be granted for a term of 49 years. A special auction for these purposes will take place, Business Georgia reports.
In order to participate in the auction companies will have to submit a project for the use of the forest which will provide an inventory of the forest. The tenant will also be required to provide special social services for the use of forest space.
According to Khetaguri, along with obligations, the tenant will receive certain rights on resources on the territory of the forest.
Today the forests of Georgia occupy 1,800,000 hectares.
