The South Caucasian Railways company has increased the volume of
freight carried by 10.7% in the first half of 2011, reaching 1.434
million tons compared with the same period in 2010, News Armenia
reports.
Freighting exceeded the planned indicator of 1.322 million tons by 8.4%.
194,400 tons were transported in January-June 2011 for export,
exceeding the forecast of 148,900 tons by 30.6% and the indicator in
2010 by 23.3%.
583,500 tons were imported in January-June 2011, 0.1% less than the
expected 583,800 tons, dropping by 5.6% compared with 2010.
656,100 tons were freighted within the country, which is 13.7% above
forecasts of 577,100 tons and 26.1% above the indicator in 2010.
