On Monday President Mikheil Saakashvili opened the first Georgian plant for the production of computers in Tbilisi. The plant was built by Georgian company "Algorithm" in conjunction with the international corporation “Intel”, the presidential press service told News Georgia.
During the year the new plant will produce 60 000 netbooks which will be given to the first graders around the country under the presidential program.
The president expressed hope that in the coming years all school teachers and pupils will be equipped with computers, as well as interactive whiteboards and “all that we see in commercials in the classrooms of the 21st century."
