The EU plans to reach an agrement with Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan to
determine a gas transport route, the EU department for energy said,
Trend reports.
Talks will start in September.
A mandate for negotiations had been provided in September, Marlene
Holzner said in Brussels, spokesman of EU Commissioner for Energy
Gunther Oettinger.
Gas will be transported from Turkmenistan through Azerbaijan to
Europe. The Eu is interested in realization of the Southern Corridor
project. It will diversify gas routes. The Southern Corridor project
consists of Nabucco, Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), White Stream, ITGI
(Turkey-Greece-Italy pipeline).
