Stavropol Territory to lose tourism zone

Russa's Stavropol Territory may close a tourism zone, Vedomosti reports.

The Ministry for Economic Development proposed closing tourism zones
in the Kaliningrad and Stavropol regions. The projects failed to
attract investors.

Director General Moisey Furshik said that Kaliningrad has land
problems, while Stavropol Territory needs to spend a lot on
infrastructure development.

Vice-Premier Dmitry Kozak said that they postponed the fate of zones
until September. Regions will need to make proposals on development of
special economic zones.

Furshik mentioned success of tourism zones in Buryatia and Altay.
Saving projects of the Kaliningrad and Stavropol Regions may need
change of borders. Zones in Stavropol Territory may need to be moved
closer to major cities.
