Tehran welcomes Russian proposals on settlement of the nuclear
program, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev
said in Iran today, RIA Novosti reports.
Patrushev said that they had discussed the nuclear program and
cooperation with the IAEA and six mediators. Iran welcomes all Russian
proposals, he noted.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov proposed a stage-by-stage
settlement of the nuclear program. Tehran is to receive encouragement
for every positive answer to a question of concern of the IAEA.
The secretary of the security council reminded that he is yet to meet
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and discuss Russian-Iranian
plans.
Secretary of the Supreme Council of National Security of Iran Said
Jalili noted that the talks had been constructive. They discussed
bilateral ties, regional and international affairs and cooperation in
energy.
USA and a set of Western states accuse Iran of developing nuclear arms
on the background of peaceful atom. Tehran denies all accusations and
insists that the nuclear program is to fulfill the country's demands
for electricity.
