Iran tests turbine at Bushehr nuclear power plant

The Bushehr nuclear power plant is testing a turbine, Vice-President
Freydun Abbasi Davani, head of the Iranian Organization for Nuclear
Energy, said, ITAR-TASS reports.


The turbine makes 3,000 revolutions per minute. Tests were held on
Tuesday. The energy block produced 400 MW (maximum capacity is 1000
MW). Earlier tests launched the turbine at 1,400 revolutions per
minute.


Davani said that the tests are being held according to schedule.
Bushehr will be launched on August 31 or early September. Then it will
be stopped for inspection of equipment. The official opening is
planned for November.
