Warsaw has hosted a seminar to discuss European energy policy as
chairman of the European Union, the ENPI said.
About 100 experts from ministries and industrial enterprises, as well
as sponsors and scientists, were at the meeting.
One of the main topics of the seminar is the Southern Energy Corridor
and interest in the Eastern Partnership to develop energy ties.
EU foreign policy is a priority for the Poland as a chairing state.
The seminar stressed the Eastern energy policy, investments and
infrastructure. The latest session discussed the challenges of 2016,
gas security, nuclear security and regional hydrocarbon markets.
Polish Deputy Secretary of State Jerzy Pomianowski pointed out a wide
range of opportunities for modernization of instruments of the Eastern
Partnership to avoid their duplication and maximize their efficiency.
The director of the Secretariat of the Energy Society, Slavcho Neykov,
expressed pride in Poland's chairing of the EU and the decision to
emphasise foreign energy links.
Poland will be organizing the EU Energy Council on September 19-20
this year. The Energy Society was formed on July 1, 2006. Its goal is
expansion of the EU energy market to South-Eastern Europe and
improvement of energy security.
The sides will commit themselves to liberalize energy markets and
realize key documents in energy, gas, environment and renewable energy
sources. Moldova and Ukraine are members of the Energy Society,
Georgia is an observer.
