Half a trillion rubles of agreements signed at "Sochi-2011" International Investment Forum

As part of the 10th International Investment Forum "Sochi-2011", 289 agreements have been signed to date worth an estimated 429 billion rubles, the forum's organizers announced at the final press conference.


The signing of the documents is continuing, so the final figure will include more contracts.

The forum was attended by delegations from 55 regions of Russia. The jubilee tenth International Investment Forum "Sochi-2011" is being held in the resort town from the 16th to the 19th of September.

The business program of the previous 9th forum saw 376 agreements worth 768 billion rubles signed, with 26 regions of Russia signing  agreements worth 240 billion rubles, and Krasnodar Territory - 382 billion rubles.

At the forum in Sochi the Federal Agency for Tourism proposed re-branding the image of Russia, in order to ensure a mass influx of foreign tourists to the country, as well as promoting domestic tourism. The head of the agency, Alexander Radkov, told the forum that they must "fundamentally change the approach to promotion, you need a re-branding of Russia."

According to him, in solving this complex problem must be involved not only a travel agency, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Regional Development. "We're actively working on it" - said Radkov. According to him, "will be launched new marketing campaigns for re-branding of Russia."

Radkov noted that within this work to synchronize the efforts of the federal center and regions."We therefore plan to carry out extensive work on the signing of Russian regions with each joint action plan for the near future in which we have recorded the joint activities and efforts not only in matters of promotion, but also in terms of statistics, security issues," - Radkov said.

"Tourism can be a second oil pipeline to the Russian Federation", - he said.
