Project for bridge across Baku bay gets South Korean grant

Azerbaijan’s Transport Ministry signed on Thursday a grant agreement with the South Korean Embassy on preparing the technical and economic basis for building a bridge across the Bay of Baku. The grant of $1.5 million will be allocated by the Korean agency on international collaboration, Trend reports.

The total cost of building the bridge across the bay is estimated at more than $1 billion.

The technical and economic assessment of the project and its presentation will be prepared during the next two years by the Korean side. Over the next two months, Korean experts will arrive in Azerbaijan to begin the investigations into the project. The purposes of the project to build the bridge across the bay is to improve Baku’s transport infrastructure and increase the experience of Azerbaijani experts by making use of Korean experience in the building of sea bridges and roads.
