Exploratory drilling starts in Cyprus

American company Noble Energy has began test drilling in the Mediterranean Sea in search of hydrocarbons, Cypriot radio announced on Monday referring to the head of the local energy company, Solon Kasinisa.

Kasinisa said that the drilling is held at the Aphrodite platform which is situated in the special economic zone of Cyprus, RIA Novosti reports.

Turkey has repeatedly expressed its categorical opposition to the work and demanded to stop searching for hydrocarbon in Cyprus.
