Trans-Caspian gas pipeline to make price formation on European market open

Construction of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline guarantees that the price for gas will be open, Director General KazTransGaz (a subsidiary of KazMunayGaz), Daniyar Berlibayev, told Trend, commenting on the decision of the EU Council to hold talks on pipeline construction with Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
The Kazakh section was connected with China in early September.

The EU Council said last week that it permits talks with Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan to construct the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline. Tehran and Moscow say its construction would harm the environment. The EU, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan need to negotiate the legal basis for construction.

The pipeline will be about 300 km long and will run from the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea to the Azerbaijani. It will be connected to the Southern Gas Corridor. Negotiations on construction have been ongoing since late 1990s.
