Russian currency drops in price

The dual currency basket (0.55 dollar and 0.45 euro) has increased in price by 0.29 rubles in Russia, compared with the rate on Friday. It reached 37.43 rubles, according to the Moscow Central Stock Exchange. The Central Bank may raise it to 37.45 rubles, RIA Novosti reports.

The figure on Friday was 37.2 rubles. About $1.5 billion were sold at the Central Bank’s session at a price of 37.2 rubles.

The rate is expected to increase by 0.2457 rubles to 32.4047 rubles, it exceeded 32.50. The euro rate increased by 0.0325 to 43.4042 rubles, under pressure of the euro-dollar on the Forex.

The euro to dollar ratio is dropping to 1.3411 dollar against 1.3502 dollar at the close of trade.

The currency rates are affected by the debt crisis in other states. The IMF and WB annual conference last weekend saw pressure from US Secretary of Treasury Timothy Geithner.

Another factor is oil prices. Futures for Brent oil reached $103.5.

Political aspects influence the situation as well. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev offered Prime Minister Vladimir Putin at the assembly of the United Russia Party to stand as candidate for president in 2012.

US fund indicators increased by 0.4-1.1%, Asian stock markets dropped by 0.8-4.0%. The Brent oil price dropped to about $103 per barrel, by 0.8%.
