Plenipotentiary presidential envoy to NCFD to visit Azerbaijan

Russian Vice-Premier Alexander Khloponin, Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasian Federal District, will arrive in Azerbaijan on October 4, Trend reports.


Russia's trade representative to Azerbaijan, Yuri Shedrin, said that Khloponin may initiate the signing of deals with regions of the NCFD. Khloponin will meet Azerbaijani Vice-Premier Yagub Eyubov and discuss bilateral economic cooperation. They may also talk about the inter-governmental deal on promotion and mutual protection of investments.


The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee said that trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia was $1.73 billion in January-July, increasing by 69.74% compared with the same period in 2010. The Russian Federal Customs Service said that trade turnover between the two states was equivalent to $1.947 billion in 2010.


Azerbaijan has the widest variety of trade with Russia. Russia mainly exported food, vehicles, equipment and transport, metals and metal products, wood and paper products and chemicals to Azerbaijan in 2010. Azerbaijan exported food, textiles, mineral products, chemicals, vehicles and equipment, metals and metal products to Russia.
