SOCAR transports about 2.3 million tons of Turkmen oil to Ceyhan

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) has announced the volumes of Turkmen oil transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline named after Heydar Aliyev in September 2011, 1news.az reports.


Last month SOCAR transported 154,308 tons of Turkmen oil, compared with 148,118 tons in August, 191,494 tons in July, 168,596 tons in June, 204,748 tons in May, 797,000 tons in April, 208,123 tons in March, 183, 138 tons in February and 225,142 tons in January.


A total of 2,280,667 tons of oil were transported in January-September 2011. A total of 3,550,667 tons had been transported by October 1 2011. 1.27 million tons were transported in 2010.


The BTC transports oil from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli and Shah Deniz fields in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. A deal on oil transport was signed in July 2010. Kazakh oil is also transported through the pipeline. The BTC has a cap of 1.2 million barrels daily.


Shareholders of the BCT Co. are BP (30.1%), AzBTC (25%), Chevron (8.9%), Statoil (8.71%), TPAO (6.53%), ENI (5%), Total (5%), Itochu (3.4%), INPEX (2.5%), ConocoPhillips (2.5%) and Hess (2.36%).
