Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has said that the construction of the
Trans-Caspian gas pipeline requires the coordination of positions of all
states of the Caspian Sea, RIA Novosti reports.
The Trans-Caspian gas pipeline is part of the "Nabucco" pipeline project,
which is the main competing project to the "South Stream" in Europe.
The European Commission has a mandate to negotiate with Azerbaijan and
Turkmenistan on legal aspects of the implementation of the Trans-Caspian gas
pipeline. It is expected that negotiations will begin in the near future. It
is assumed that the Transcaspian gas pipeline will link Turkmenistan and
Azerbaijan in order to export gas via Azerbaijan to Europe.
