Dmitry Medvedev has said that recent events pose challenges to gas co-operation with European countries. The President instructed the Minister of Energy, Sergei Shmatko, and the head of "Gazprom", Alexei Miller, to prepare proposals on energy cooperation with the EU in connection with the new European regulations in this area, ITAR-TASS reports.
Medvedev said that European countries are considered by Russia to be close partners in the energy sector.
The third energy package was approved in the European Union in 2009, and at the moment an approval process is taking place in the national parliaments of European countries.
