Sides of the Nabucco project signed a deal. No agreements on European part in constructing the pipeline have been reached yet.
Spokesman of the project Christian Dolezal said that construction is to start in 2013 and end in 2017. Export would start as soon as suppliers are ready.
Nabucco is part of the Southern Gas Corridor and a priority gas project of Europe. It is to diversify energy routes and improve European energy security. The Southern Gas Corridor includes the Nabucco gas pipeline, Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, ITGI (Interconnector Turkey-Georgia-Italy), White Stream.
The Nabucco gas pipeline will transport gas from the Caspian Sea to the Middle East and the EU. It will be 3900 km long. Construction is to start in 2013 and end in 2017. It will have a max cap of 31 billion cubic meters annually. Its shareholders are OMV (Austria), MOL (Hungary), Bulgargaz (Bulgaria), Transgaz (Romania), Botas (Turkey) and RWE (Germany). Each has a 16.67% share in the project.
