Russian trade turnover of south increases by 15.7%

Russian trade turnover in the Southern Federal District in January-September 2011 reached $22.9 billion, exceeding the figure of the same period in 2010 by 15.7%, head of the Southern Customs Directorate, Alexander Getman, said, RIA Novosti reports.

Cargo weight dropped by 20.7% to 37.6 million tons. Export in the first nine months of 2010 was equivalent to $10.6 billion (+6.9%) and 24.9 million tons (dropping by 1.5). Import reached $12.3 billion (+24%) and 12.6 million tons (+18%).

The figures changed due to declaring of goods transported through the Russian-Kazakh border. Water for Kazakh irrigation from the Astrakhan Region had a major share. The grain export ban, which had been in force until July 1, affected the statistics as well.
