Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has outlined prospects for the development
of investment cooperation between Russia and Armenia in the energy sector,
particularly in nuclear and thermal power generation sectors, News-Armenia
reports.
By underlining the importance of the nuclear sector for mutual cooperation
between the countries, the Russian president also stressed that the
countries should go beyond this cooperation. He recalled that the volume of
Russian investments in Armenia is approaching $3 billion, and expressed
confidence that this figure will grow.
In particular, Russia needs to develop infrastructure projects, especially rail transport, Medvedev said.
The president also named the
development of communication and information technologies among the promising areas of co-investment, recalling that Armenia began to actively implement broadband internet before Russia.
