Azerbaijan and World Bank sign loan deal

Azerbaijan and the World Bank have signed a deal on providing Azerbaijan with $80 million for realization of WUAP project.


$76.8 million will be provided by the International Development Association, $3.2 million from the International Reconstruction and Development Bank. The government finances $34.3 million. The project is worth $114.3 million, Trend reports.


The document was signed by Azerbaijani Finances Minister Samir Sharifov, Chairman of the Melioration and Water Economy Ahmed Ahmedzade and WB manager in Azerbaijan Joseph Ouen.


The project will improve efficiency of 760,000 minor farms in 27 districts of Azerbaijan.


WUAP trains 379 associations on 900,000 hectares, helping them with water supplies.
