European Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettingher welcomes signing of the package of gas deals between Azerbaijan and Turkey. Oettingher underlined that Turkey will benefit the EU as a transit state.
The European commissioner expressed hope that the pipelines would function according to the international laws.
Gas will be sent from Azerbaijan to Europe. A route for Azerbaijani gas transport has not been chosen yet. The ITGI, TAP, White Stream and Nabucco are the alternatives. One of the routes needs to allow Turkmenistan to provide gas.
