US will not abandon hope for agreement on Manas military base in Kyrgyzstan

The US State Department is ready to discuss the military base at Manas Airport in Kyrgyzstan, spokesman of the department Victoria Nuland said, Trend reports.


A deal on the base will stay in force until 2014. Kyrgyz Prime Minister Almazbek Atambayev, who won the elections, had spoken out against the presence of the base. He believes that the base violates Kyrgyz interests and would not want any state to attack it. All existing deals will stay in force.


The US military base is essential for the operation in Afghanistan.
